Helping Her Poem by Randy McClave

Helping Her

I remembered when I loaned her a dollar
After she pleaded with me to call her,
She was relived and she promised to pay me back
But, she told me later, only when she's in the black.
I remember when she wanted to go to the movies
And I took her there to please,
Now, she went with others to another show
She, never asked me if I too wanted to go.
I remember when I took her to the store
I bought for me and for her groceries and much more,
Now, my cabinets are all mostly now empty
She, don't help me even though she has plenty.
I remember when I took her out to eat
And of course it was always my treat,
But, the other day when she went out to dine
I was not asked, and I was left behind.
I still remember all that I had done and bought
When friends and family said, I should not,
Sadly the only times that she still remembers me
It is when I do something for her for free.
