Her Words Did Not Flatter Me Poem by Francis Duggan

Her Words Did Not Flatter Me

She said around the edges you seem a bit rough
For to say the least you pen some negative stuff
In the literary World you'll never be one of note
So many poetasters for every poet
Her words hurt a tiny bit only a tad
Though the truth can be bitter the truth's never bad
Her remarks were ego deflating but i copped it sweet
On our journey through life every sort we do meet
Some may look upon her as not very kind
But credit her she is one who speaks her mind
Those who criticize us some credit are due
She only told me what to her did seem true
Her words did not flatter me one little bit
And i had little choice but to grin and bear it.
