Here, In The Middle Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Here, In The Middle

She awoke with the feeling of emptiness.
Another morn, another day.
It was almost hypnotic,
the glance she would give.
Drifting through the day,
she easily went unnoticed.
Nothing will change,
until I sacrafice, she thought.
She’d be willing to give her life,
in exchange for the simplicity in loved ones’ lives.
Such anger and sorrow,
burrowed in her chest.
Soon, it’d be time to fly.
She climbed to the top of the apartment building,
she’d often admired across the street.
She could see the town differently from up here,
it was almost beautiful.
She stood on the ledge,
and prepared to take a step.
With one foot hovering in the air,
she let go of her balance.
No one ever came.
