On the endless celestial field
Within the infinite cosmic spread,
You play hide and seek;
How I can unfold
From where you have hidden,
‘Neath what rat-hole
Buried in deep burrows,
Hidden how far from
In endless horizons around,
While falters my sight,
Fail legs to carry around
And worn-out is my bodily strength.
I'm not what I was then,
When soul was bright,
Heart was right
And body carried subtle spring;
Then I yearned to spring to the sky,
To pluck full moon and present to you,
And float on clouds to shower on you,
And ride on rainbow to brighten you;
But no more I am, I;
Time has consumed its share from me,
Distance from you blighted my shine
And I remain mere skeleton of me.
Though no more jump to unfold you,
I limp to find you where you're,
For, I know, one day
I find somewhere wherever you hide,
And I revert in strength to what I'm beneath
To glow in glory together forever;
When will it be, when unite again?
No tool to predict destiny's design;
Not so soon, I certainly know,
While dusk is around, and night is near;
But day shall break from the night's womb
And spring our world back to us.
