Hide And Seek Poem by Sairindhree Sen

Hide And Seek

Rating: 5.0

One day,
As I sat all alone in the darkness,
Two little hands came from nowhere,
And suddenly pressed upon my eyes, saying:
“Tell me, who am I? ”
Hugging him close, I smiled and said:
”That’s my chweet little darling! ! ! ”
The little voice complained plaintively:
“Mummy, why did you recognize me so soon?
I wanted to play hide and seek with you.”
I replied: ” Sorry, sweetheart,
I didn’t realize it.”

Another day, as I lay in bed,
A little thief pounced upon me-
With a mask on his face and a toy gun,
And cried in a hoarse voice:
“I am the ghost of a pirate.
Give me all that you have,
Or else I’ll devour you.”
I smiled to myself and said:
“Please spare me, pirate Sir,
I beg of you;
You frighten me so much,
I surrender everything I possess,
Whatever’s mine is yours,
My life, my soul, my every thing.
Take whatever you want,
But please don’t scare me any more.”
The little ghost flung off his mask and cried:
“Ha! Ha! Mummy,
You couldn’t recognize me!
After all, I scared you! ”
I wrapped him in my arms,
Gently kissed his little forehead
And said:
“Yes of course, my baby,
You really scared me to death.
I lose, you win.”
