177. E'en Thirumal who flies on the vulture
and crosses the world in two steps won't give up
an act gainful. The wise doing hidden acts
won't get clarity from the foes or the kin.

178. When the kin as great as the floods are near
You probe the one evil in mind and don't
rid him of by trick, it is like damaging
a rock by hurling the cudgel on it.

179. Before judging the love of a friend, don't
divulge him your hidden tricks. No one cares
for the ways of cooking the meat of a deer
after its killing by norms or its escape.

180. O, wench with clouds like tresses and golden rings!
The close friends don't disclose the secrets heard
to others without thinking about it.
Yet the wise don't tell the secrets to the fools.

181. O, Chief of the vast hill country! Men with sound
knowledge are able to hide the rare secrets.
To break the secrets to the mean minded is
to heap the dry cotton atop the palm tree.

182. Blind believers of loving friends are too ruined.
So don't trust those who keep distance with scorn.
It is not essential to preach not to trust
the people without mercy.
