Hinc Illa Lacrimae Poem by Taher Shemaly

Hinc Illa Lacrimae

here comes the wind of the south
carrying those moments away
thus cry, cry and cry, it shall go
far wherever you're not to stay

and when your head is down
and your heart just blackened
here comes the smile of a child
when happiness seems scattered

Raise up and feel
the round of fortune wheel
how hard, made of steel
and by night...
in peace you shall go to sleep

maybe the sadness overall
may be printed on the sand
or it is just the mind so tired
of a restless soul roving on land

just then and only then that time
you, my sweet child may come
for this here my shoulders will be
and a share of these tears will have some

Raise up and feel
the round of fortune wheel
how hard, made of steel
and by night...
in peace you shall go to sleep

and when it is the time that may
to you hinc illa lacrimae shall I say
feel safe in this tiny heart's gulf and bay
be sure in this life there is many a way
these my words to you, then down I shall lay
and no more then, hinc illa lacrimae

Raise up and feel
the round of fortune wheel
how hard, made of steel
and by night...
in peace you shall go to sleep...
