Hinder (The In Between) Poem by G J Salgado

Hinder (The In Between)

They pulled me out just to put me back into the flames
Demons sent out to find me
But I'm unmarked by any name
Black eyes cannot see
They've spent too much time chasing my ghost
Collecting things from me along the way that they need the most
I was never there but my scent will still linger
Antagonizing the illusions of what I hinder
You got close to my flame
Held it in your hand
We were written by name
Burnt into the sand
You disappeared into my fire
It built us an empire
We were characters in a story that lived not so long ago
We were strangers just looking for a place to call our own
You got too close to my flame so I burned the bridges down
I never wanted anyone to get too close
We weren't afraid of what we had found
I never knew that you needed me the most
You were a reflection of me
I was your everything
We were a beautiful creation forged by the flames
We were waiting for that moment when it came
The flames were calling us by name
Then we made our bullet butterflies rain
