His Mother The Notary Public Poem by Raj Dronamraju

His Mother The Notary Public

He slack jawed eternity minimizer
Grumbling, cannot do anything by himself
The car stalls going up a hill and he stalls everywhere else

His mother swore an oath then she swore at everyone else
Including those who jumped for joy at finally finding the love they needed
Executed the document with surly disagreeableness

His father worked as a draftsman
These are the plans for the machine that will make the other machines that run
The processes that yank us into involuntary order

Do you solemnly declare….anything?
Not influence easily washed off like the grime of a humid day
Change your clothes and you are off with springy steps

Do you witness what of yours will be rejected later?
And still claim him as blood and what you bore for nine months
Those traces vanish quickly, his signature could not be authenticated
