History Dictates Poem by Randy McClave

History Dictates

Remember our past history dictates
Our future and also our past fates,
So, from them we will all learn
Instead like our ancestors who did suffer and burn.
If you give anyone ultimate power
Soon that will all go sour,
They will want more to own and control
Corrupt will be their very soul.
Soon they will change all the laws
Everyone, but them falls,
They will want more and then even more
Then they will send our children off to war.
Soon they will want to be a king
Praises to them they will want all to sing,
The wealthy and the rich will be standing high
The middle-class will be servants and the poor will die.
Soon they will become a dictator
Everyone will believe and praise that no one is ever greater,
Then with power and a smile and a nod
They will then want to be God.
