Hold Me Close (Sonnet # 239) Poem by Tina Baaklini

Hold Me Close (Sonnet # 239)

As deserts welcome their first rain's embrace,
As orphans warm to hugs they never knew,
As daisies bloom beneath dawn's tender grace,
Thus did my heart unfold to love and you.

O soulmate, without you, lost feels my soul,
My heart's compass points solely to your light.
I was an isle in fog, without a goal,
A clown adrift in cities veiled from sight.

Since you came, my heart embraced the spring,
Angelic tones now fill my skies with peace,
Singing hymns of love, a sacred blessing,
"Where were you? " sighed my heart, longing release.

Now that you're here, hold me close, very tight,
I am a moon, lit solely by your light.
