Home Is Where The Heart Is Poem by Paula Glynn

Home Is Where The Heart Is

I am an attractive 40 year old woman
That has confidently travelled the world
I am a brave and adventurous person
That experiences everything new and exotic
But home is where the heart is.

I am a perpetual globetrotter
And with a vivacious and quirky personality
I work hard for a successful living
I seldom become weak and give in
But home is where the heart is.

I enjoy socialising with friends and strangers alike
I drink alcohol and cocktails that no one dares spike
I always stay in luxurious accommodation
I have the money to do whatever I want
But home is where the heart is.

My family back home understand
That this is the life I freely choose
That I still do all I must and all I can
To come home for special occasions
Because home is where the heart is.

I live in the real and obnoxious world
Not everyday on the road paradise
Missing a secure life of friends and family
Missing the normality of routine and structure
Because home is where the heart is.

I may seldom be physically around
But my loving heart misses a happy home
Where I am not globetrotting alone
So I will visit my supportive family this week
Because home is where the heart is.

I will get there whether by airplane
I will also go by boat, coach and train
I will have a hot shower this morning
The dirt and unhappiness down the drain
Knowing my family are faithfully waiting for my train.
