Home Sweet Hell Poem by Sven Rhoads

Home Sweet Hell

Rating: 5.0

Beating the soul until wounds run deep
Lashed with the chains that will always keep
Sucked out my lungs was the will to live
Now carved hollow without a care to give

Every knife that penetrates the once proud man
Leaves him sinking deep into the quicksand
Angels and demons wear all the same face
Bitter is the arrival of this twist of fate

Tear the heart out of my chest and leave it in the earth
The only beating in this life that ever came to cease
Trials by fire to see what I've been worth
Broken into pieces I wish for only release
Unleash the shadows from the depths of my mind this night
The only thing that has ever come to form
Engulfed in darkness, no room for the light
Damnations day, the moment I was born

Venom of another day seeps through my skin
Nails raking over my flesh but nothing seeps through
I see no tomorrow only the misery that has been
For this home sweet hell is all I ever knew

Wore my fingers down to the bones
Blood and tears no longer are shed
In this new chapter I journey alone
Amongst the living to walk as the dead
Spilled my guts to the dawning sun
As paradise turns to infernos blaze
Against my head is the tap of the gun
When the mind is just a twisted maze
