Home Truths Poem by Paul Warren

Home Truths

Some days it gets past me
What people say or do you see
In a modern world that's changed
And how people think is rearranged

I grew up with some home truths
That were right and not uncouth
But now those things are turned around
And I search for more solid ground

We need to always uphold the law
And not do bad things even if no one saw
But it would seem what you get away with is fine
Being something brag about when drinking wine

So what is left in the world for us
Do we just shake our head and not make a fuss
Or do we tell the world what we think
And stand tall showing we are not extinct.
