Outside, within structure
Of boxes and crates,
Bunny Fluffy-Stuff
Quietly sits and waits
For his morning meal
Of carrots and lettuce and
Tasty bit of apple peel.
Indeed, quite exquisite fare
For this domesticated hare.

Inside, the Alsatian,
Aptly named Thor,
Paces about on kitchen floor;
While, with ears peaked
And lookin' quickly ‘round,
Bowl of Kibbles ‘n Bits® is
Quickly gobbled down.
Anxious to seek out
Vermin and visitor,
He's ready to venture forth
Staking out the front yard—
Just takin' care of business
As resident, household guard.

Unlike his German mate,
Outside patrolling fence ‘n gate,
Pampered Prince sits and waits—
A house tabby of proper pedigree
Prepped for all the world to see.
Hear tell he's rumored quite the stud
By wishful, wistful neighbor girls
Adorned in puffy, coiffured curls,
Collars of leather and rhinestones
And strange hint of mixed colognes.
Still, he sits…waiting patiently for
His kisses, cuddles and caviar—
Fitting treatment for such a star!

Perched above it all,
Is precocious Polly.
An avian of origins tropical
—His acquired name often typical—
Looks down to catch the daily show:
Channels in Ben, 'Hoss' and 'Little Joe';
And four-footed locals 'Curly ‘n Moe'—
Typical goings-on for down below!

Not to be upstaged, Polly goes
Beyond antics of crackers and mime;
To steal the show, to take the ‘light—
A notion leaning on the edge of crime.
Above the hall, poised on wooden perch
Scanning to and fro then in sudden lurch,
Polly takes flight and begins to swoop
Unloading his special mix of poop.
Aerial assault complete, Polly alights to
Applause— sadly only he could hear,
A moment of glory dimed to fading cheer.

Captured and caged by loving fan,
Future raids foiled by 'enemy' plan;
Polly resigns to stints on memory lane
Recalling freedoms once his to claim.
Realizing through tough love that
Privilege is a 'right' first learned,
Then through trial by test is earned.
A fact known to rabbit, dog, and cat.
