Homeless Poem by soren Barrett

Homeless

Are we not all homeless on this tellurian journey?
Battling through this borrowed land
all abodes nothing more than a rented gurney
a fleeting respite before buried in time's sand

Prior to taking up this corporal mound of clay
to embark upon our forward trudgings
ask: Do we not leave behind, on our way,
our ephemeral Bedouin lodgings?

Behind us, dwellings, friends, and relatives, strewn
like discarded remnants of the past
A vagrant yes! Yet, nature provides us a boon
an edifice that all this life will last

A structured habitat so grand,
a mortal harbor, we will only leave behind
on this passage when we depart this land
to a future, of which we are sand-blind
