Homeless Royals Poem by Thomas Sarko

Homeless Royals

Rating: 5.0

Before they arrived, we used to be so undisturbed
From far and near, we hailed our friends; they stayed
And they've quickly explored, uncovered, discovered and conquered
Every stone, and every stem, even this clay on which we pray

To our ancestors who, they often disregard and defame
Before our very eyes when we're weaken and dislodged
Our infants are starving to death, as we stand by with refrain
And do menial work that shame us like slaves, in our own cove

We're often stooped like beggars collecting only scraps.
Like oversize angels they fly over us raining their curse;
Roaring monsters crushing our herbs and food crops.
But silent whispers of our sires tell us to unite and never fuss.
We obey not because we're weak, but because of the peace within.
You can now take all these pearls and leave, but please return to us, our most sacred earth.
