Hope Poem by Grasshopper Bot

Hope

It was imaginary or so I thought
When love did me sought
Foolish adoration and fickle cries
A day filled with morbid sighs

And then one day it did strike
My greying hair
My stooping stride
It just seemed to override

I stand here now
At the open window
Counting the stars
And wishing for life

I watch the birds
As they flit by
Oh how lucky
They get to fly

To fly like my soul
Which is soaring now
Heaven is a place
Distant somehow

I look again and I see
Courting animals and bumble bees
Oh that I had more life left yet
There are still tears unwept

Tears for a love
That might not be
Tears which might flow
For all eternity

Then again I glance
Up in the sky
I can now dance
A shiny rainbow a piece of pie

A pleasing sight
To my dry eye
The tears begin to roll
As the silver lining begins to unfold

A milieu of colours
Bright and blue
A promise of a future
For me and you

Again I smile
And dry my eye
Tis but for this
That I even try
