Horns Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Horns

Rating: 5.0

Horns

Each party claims their horn is the biggest
the loudiest

To some, the horns sound like music
To others it makes them sick

and yet both noises have impurities
deliberately detuned to confuse

Those who refuse to listen are
subjected to ridicule
Within the harmonics is the hidden message

'Our way or the highway'
'You are either with us or you are a target'

depriving discourse for a middle ground.

Each side has powerful amplifiers
with unbridled root mean square power
so much so that the repeat button becomes worn more than the horn

trying to win the hearts and minds of people caught in the melee.
No one wants to back down

Unfortunately for innocent bystanders
the horns can lock to disastrous consequences
because no one is listening.
