How Can I Part, Whilst Mine Heart Pines With Thee? Poem by Charnen Postrano

How Can I Part, Whilst Mine Heart Pines With Thee?

Mine lord was my joy;
He bought solace to my woe,
A beacon of light in my shadowed depths,
Mine steadfast shield when I, a maiden, lay in despair.

Ne'er did I dream of losing mine lord,
So deep was my love, the thought ne'er took root.
I cannot fathom unbinding the threads we twain have woven.
Shall such a day e'er dawn?

As time did pass, I found mine hand clutching mine breast,
The hurt unseen, for euphoria masked it well.
Ne'er did I ken that mine love for thee had turned to a lie,
Leaving me low upon the earth.

Why doth loving thee bring such grievous pain?
Why doth loving thee so hard?
I long to love, yet pain doth linger.
I chose myself, but truth be told, I'd always choose thee.

How can I part whilst, mine heart pines with thee?
I still weep for thee,
Mine heart longeth for thee,
But I must wait until these emotions find their rest.
