How Do We Play Our Script? Poem by Emmanuel Joseph Olumakiss

How Do We Play Our Script?

I thought it would not exceed this time
The hunger roaming in our land
The hardship visiting various homes
The farmers herders clash
The death rates in villages and town
The rising of several harm

Inflation again hit the streets
Isn't this worrisome?
How come diversity has taken us this far?

Our country many have vowed to put to death
In recent clashes
Many with the use of gun
Others through the misuse of words

With our bare hands we've strangled our unity
Unlike the days of old:
Everyone expresses his thought
Without a negative response

How do we play our script?
To overcome the outnumbered scar
Impunity we've allowed in the field of play

Deny me not the details
The improved social services
For the wellbeing of the people

How come the one whose house is in flame
Still feel more relaxed chasing shadow
Why pray for more woes?
Now we're on a quest to reunite

Those who have took to arm
And them that ignite more flames
From here when would you retire?
To make this country a better place.
