How Far We Live From Knowing

How far we live from knowing
What we seemed to know
When we first got here
That there are halos around the stars
The winds through the window are spiced
The grass springs up in our hands
And little flowers can be seen
Close to the ground
We have forgotten the music
Of our mother's breathing
Us in and out
How it feels to be still
In mild sunshine
Oh remember
Though you have grown
Unaccountably old, begin.
Close your clouded eyes
And dream it all again
