How I Miss Love - Poem by Jerry Pike

I realised I didn’t miss ……..
but oh, how I miss love
I thought I’d covered up its glide
and made pretend I hadn’t shied
then in a magazine, a bride
and…oh, how I miss love

I wanted, then I got a ……
but all I’d wished was love
not gold and jewels of empires died
or treasure islands twinkling pride
just good old love, freshly supplied
and…oh, how I miss love

I won that prize, a million ……
but in my head was love
just cash would never show I tried
attempting depths, where lovers cried
until that day I’ll never hide
and…oh, how I miss love
