How Long, Lord, How Long? Poem by Denis Martindale

How Long, Lord, How Long?

God sees the great, God sees the small, Jerusalem as well,
Yet freewill is God's miracle, choose Heaven or choose Hell.
God set the choices in each heart, then each makes up his mind,
Adam and Eve were just the start, the parents of Mankind.
Yet God has made a promised land and sealed it for all time,
And yet more blessings have been planned, so many, each sublime.
Yes, God presides upon His Throne, in righteousness above,
But there are curses God has shown, on those who hate His love.

I pity those who turned aside, still distanced from God's grace,
Rejecting Christ when crucified to save the Human Race.
That's why I pray, though I may grieve, for mercies still to fall,
As latter rain, when we believe, according to God's call.
Jerusalem, Jerusalem, we pray for better days,
Just as we pray for all of them who will not give God praise.
Can we forgive what has been done? Or sorrows yet to be?
We can if we still serve God's Son Who died on Calvary...
