Human Poem by Shadrach Shehu

Human

Rating: 5.0

'human', they call you.
but I say you don't qualify.
you've got features of a man & you think you're human,
how dare you?

you hear a woman in labour groaning so-hard in pain & you say to her,
'shut the hell up!
you should have thought about it nine months ago! '
how dare you?

you meet a beggar on the street & you ridicule him,
'didn't you vote the present government into power?
go & ask them for money, they owe you...not me.'
how dare you?

little sparrow is sick
& you say to it,
'you're of no use to me if you can't fly or twitter.'
then...
you throw the poor beauty to your ravenous cat.
& you still think you're-
how dare you? !
how dare you?

Such thought provoking piece! Valid questions asked but perhaps we don't have answers to them. Well penned! Bravo!
