Humanity Races The Wind Catches Star Dreams Poem by Terence George Craddock

Humanity Races The Wind Catches Star Dreams

in days long past ancient sailing ships crossed seas
later swift windjammers sailing merchant vessels
large ships hundreds of feet long with several masts
carrying cargo between cities continents across oceans
before the age of stream power coal fired boilers
before the age of fossil diesel engines gas turbines
before battery electric diesel-electric turbo-electric
before nuclear powered or coming hydrogen fuel

ships were at the mercy of wind or used ancient oars
from legs to horses to cars trucks from boats ships
to aircraft to spacecraft humanity creates to travel
the need to move to travel to move goods supplies
the need to explore continents mountains ocean depths
the need to adapt to survive to know propels space race
