Humility Sadly Poem by Francis Duggan

Humility Sadly

At social and community gatherings where people do meet
For attention with each other some do compete
The look at me syndrome is alive and well
Some people need to be noticed their egos to swell
Self promotion is the in thing in the Human World of today
The humble of mind are now rare sad to say
Though humility never has been an in thing
In the twenty first century so many only willing their own praises to sing
But these people seemingly fail to realize
That true talent like cream to the top only rise
Though in their words of self praise for themselves they try to make a name
They need the praises of many to reach the pinnacle of fame
In a time when many their own selves love to celebrate
Humility sadly does seem out of date.
