Hurt Poem by Randy McClave

Hurt

The worse hurt that I have ever received
Was not a left or a right by an enemy,
Nor was it the time that I stubbed my big toe
Or when I was attacked by an evil foe.
The time that I was hurt and in real danger
Was not from the hands of a wicked stranger,
And the hurt that I received when I was burnt
It became a hard lesson, that I had learnt.
The many times that I have received stitches
They became only uncomfortable, irritating itches,
And the many times that I was in a car wreck
It wasn't the worse hurt that I had received or felt yet.
The worse hurt wasn't when I pulled my own tooth
Or the stupid things that I did in my youth,
The worse hurt wasn't given when my face was skelped
It was a hurt given by a loved one, that I had helped.
