Hurt Poem by David Harris

Hurt

Rating: 5.0

Hurt has a rippling effect;
it goes on and on,
until it slowly fades away.
Sometimes we say things
in an off handed way,
not really realising,
the real hurt we have caused.
We accuse without reason,
because we have made up
something in our mind.
In anger of the moment,
we spew our hurt deep,
and then repent,
as the person does not want to know.
So the next time you get angry,
cool down before you speak.
Do not go treading on others feet,
for it may not be their feet
that you trample on,
but only your own.

Great piece David. Lovely storyline and so well put together. We always say, you need to put your brain in gear before you open your mouth! ! ! ! Words can be so hurtful and stay in the heart of someone for a very long time, maybe forever. Wide wisdom here. Love and hugs Ernestine XXX

Yes David, you've made your point here in more than one way....Sometimes we take our own terrible personal hurts out on others and sometimes it's just a bad day. There is a great song called 'Everybody Hurts Sometimes.' I like to believe that most people are good in their heart and don't intentionally hurt....But I agree with you that some words can cut so deep that you just give up....that the memory of is too much to deal with again...The worse hurt can come from your very own child. Then you just must let go....This one makes me cry.....great poem.~~marci.
