Hurt Poem by Allison Hankins

Hurt

Rating: 4.5

I'm sorry that I'm not perfect,
I'm sorry I make mistakes,
I'm sorry I'm not the perfect child,
But can't you love me for who I am?

If you do love me, why don't you show it?
If you do care about me, why don't you help me?
If you say you're trying, why aren't you improving?
Why do you always focus on the worst and never see the best in me?

I'm too afraid to say this to your face so I'm showing it through poetry.
I hope you understand that I'm scared to say anything to you because I know you'll turn it around on me.

I'm sorry, I pray you hear my plea and don't ignore it.
I still love you... even through all of this. Maybe I just love you, though, out of fear and respect and not for the right reasons. If that is the case, well, I'm no psychic, but I don't think that will end up too well.

The hurt in this prose piece was well expressed by the writer. She surely convinced me this was genuine stuff. That is great communication. So, I gave this a nine. A well deserved nine. GW62
