Title: Hyacinth
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
The woody vase was made out of a YEW tree
Which had been outside our living room window
And had fallen during the ice storm,
It was felled by my husband
And fashioned into a flower holder by our neighbour for $30
It represents YEW - Your Education as Wealth
Or Why (Y)- Education is Wealth
For it's the way of the world to recognise worth in any form
And the hyacinth along with green leaves
Represents the way we sheaf through notes for research
For many times, my mind is a labyrinth
And I wish that some day, I taste absinthe
Which would perhaps, make sure that my lace (the trimmings to my personality and dress embellishment)
Traces out a face and a place in Toronto society
And my mind which goes the entire length makes sense in the nth dimension also.
