Hypnotic Denial Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Hypnotic Denial

This madness is unjustified.

"You think so?

Think? I know so!

"I can not wait,
To see the look on your face.
When down come riding,
On that escalator...
Accompanied by cheers.
And a roar of thunderous applause.
Who it was that had been chosen,
That will announce...
At the press conference.
A reason to justify,
Everything imaginable...
Under the Sun.
Done to do and allowed.
Lawlessly to justify,
The most despicable of misdeeds."

NO!

"YES! "

Nooo.
Nooooo.NOOOOO! ! !

"Quick.
Hand me the smelling salts.
He appears to be snapping out of it."

Help me. Help me please!
Where am I?
Oh my God.
What happened?
What happened to me.

"You had been under some kind of spell.
Entertained into a hypnotic denial.
There is no other explanation,
To you we can give.
It took us awhile to bring you back.
You will be okay.
However...
That madness you envisioned? "

What. What 'madness'?

"The one you kept muttering about,
That was unjustified?
And unbelievable to bear.
Day in and day out.
24/7.
Well...
Whatever it was that scared you like that,
There is nothing we can do.
Except suggest,
A doctor.
Maybe you could get a prescription,
For marijuana.
It's legal almost everywhere now."

None of this makes any sense.

"Tell us about it.
We knew it the moment that guy,
Came down on that escalator.
As if to float down from the clouds."

So...
It is true?

"What is? "

I could possibly get,
That prescription from a doctor?

"Why not?
But you probably would get better stuff,
If you traveled to Colorado.
Or a place like that.
Where it has been reported to grow,
Organically."
