I am not a genious,
Nor am I an adult.
I am a child.
I was a child.
I am now a young lady;
A young lady that will soon blossom
Into a woman.
I am a person,
Not your pet.
I am a person that deserves
To be treated with respect
No matter what race, sex, or age.
I am your daughter;
Your daughter that wants to be heard;
Your daughter that has a dream
That nothing in the world,
Not even education can make come true...
If no one is there to believe;
If that dream is not heard.
I may be inteligent.
I may be talented
But I am not a genious,
Nor am I an adult
And for you to stand there
And treat me as if I am...
Breaks my heart,
Along with my dreams and goals
Inside of it.
So, before you make an expectation of me,
Remember
I am not a genious,
Nor am I an adult.
I am your daughter.
Now,
And forever.
