I Am A Shadow's Prey Poem by Elise Colon

I Am A Shadow's Prey

A darkened room is where I stay
I am a shadow's prey
Light no longer lingers in such disarray,
ah but pain remains
No longer shielded with glee, for it has faded
Streams of despair flow out to quick, emptying what once was a joyful being
Tears stop as I lay awake
Troublesome thoughts rush like a hurricane
Should I pray?
Black nothingness surrounds me as I stare at the end up above
Silence; piercing silence...
I am a shadow's prey
For even as I lay to sleep
Pain will remain...
