I Am Awake, And You Are Sleeping Poem by Mohammad Younus

I Am Awake, And You Are Sleeping

I am awake, and you are sleeping.
These were the words that stirred me
from the depths of slumber,
and a light, brilliant and pure,
rose from within—
like the moon breaking free
after a long, oppressive night,
escaping the shroud of clouds.

My ears, still heavy with dreams,
slowly began to unfurl—
and in the stillness,
I heard a voice—
a voice like no other,
as if the divine spoke
on the sacred Day of Alast.
I sighed deeply,
the truth stirring within me—
I wished to say, Balaa!
The whole of creation could not contain
the weight of such a question:

God offered this Trust
to the heavens, to the earth,
and to the mountains,
but they could not bear the burden
and trembled at its call.

My Lord's whisper continued,
soft but undeniable,
'Am I not your Lord? '
I accepted the trust, as He willed,
and my soul, reaching beyond
the veil of flesh and thought,
answered—
Ah, yes, yes, You are my Lord,
the source of Your boundless wonders,
the keeper of all mysteries.

In that moment, time seemed to halt,
as light upon light flooded me,
and I knew, with the divine intelligence,
that I was His image,
and He was my truth.
