I Am Not Smart Enough Poem by Shalom Freedman

I Am Not Smart Enough

Rating: 5.0

I do not understand
I read and think
And try to understand
But there is so much beyond
The ability of my mind-
I am after all
Simply not smart enough in many things
God did not give me enough brainpower
So I cannot understand what many others do
Though I have tried all my life to understand
I never will be able to understand
Not only what is not understandable by humans at all
But what other humans much smarter than me
Do understand
I am just not and never have been and never will be
Smart enough
And knowing his
Is yet another reason
For humility in old age.

A lovely poem of humility. It's better to know that we do not know a thing or certain things than pretend that we know everything even if we do not know anything. Only few people are humble enough to admit that they do not know and understand everything. Well penned.10
