I Am Of Poem by Francis Duggan

I Am Of

I am of the place where the waterways meet
In the green rushy fields near the Town of Millstreet
In view of Clara Mountain from here far away
Where i would be a stranger to many today
The fields of the badger the rook and the silver backed crow
Where the Cails and Finnow to the Blackwater flow
And where Clara the old hill as ever looks down
On the green countryside just west of Millstreet Town
Where i grew to love Nature when i was a boy
And learning of her ways today i enjoy
In this home to the emu, echidna, koala, wallaby and gray kangaroo
And white backed magpie, white long billed corella and yellow tailed black cockatoo
And every morning i wake to the song of the pee wee
Singing on the branch of a black wattle tree.
