I Am Seeing It All Now Poem by John Mackinnon

I Am Seeing It All Now

I am seeing it all now12/2/17

I am seeing it all now
Sadly, as a last farewell.
I have watched the surge and swell
Of time and tide
From this front porch.
Though I have held
My torch as high
As any man,
At last I came to understand
The levelling
That moves unseen
In every seasons passing.
I have however,
At appropriate times,
Congratulated roses
And the trees
At their endeavour,
In sun and rain,
Constant, through
The laughing and the weeping
Of my days.
And I have chatted
With my companion moon,
My friend,
Who ever constant,
Will watch me to my end
And who,
Since my beginning
In another land
Has whispered
In the way
Of lullabys
Sung softly
In my mother's voice
Which echo still.
I understand,
Oh yes, rejoice
This fleeting time,
So filled
With memories sublime
Which now I share
In broken lines
Like this.
So, take my kiss
I blow it to the wind
To you, my kids
To know
I loved my life,
But recognised
It was not mine
To keep.

Remarkably deep and a real pleasure to have come across - this is exactly what I enjoy reading for.
