I Am The Queen Poem by Clariza mena

I Am The Queen

Rating: 5.0

My mother always told me, "You need to start being more clean, or nobody will like you." But, was I ever liked in the first place. You see, I was born into this world where my dark skin meant shoot. Where my sexuality meant beat me up. Where my body meant stare. Where my religion meant stupid. Where my gender meant weak. Where my accent meant make fun of me. Where I meant worthless. But not anymore, My dark skin means beauty. My sexuality means mind your business! My body means sexy. My religion means love. My gender means strong. My accent means Unapologetically perfect. I am not a queen, I am THE queen! You can push me to the grown and step on me. But I will get back up stronger, beautiful, and powerful. This queen never falls behind, I will wait for you… at the finish line.
