Why do I love America
All you must do is to look and see,
My family were slaves in Africa
But, now we are all free.
America is now my home
I am proud to be called an American,
Never from her side will I ever roam
Which was our country's forefathers plan.
We helped shaped this great land
For people just like us,
The world we know was shaped by God's hand
And we were given our faith and strength by Jesus.
We were immigrants like many others
As we headed for liberty across the border,
By ship or by walking arrived our Father's and Mother's
To Lady Liberty we happily walked towards her.
I am an American just like you
My family fought so very hard to be here,
And I too bleed red and white and blue
That belief and love will never disappear.
I salute the American flag
Whenever I pass it by,
I swear because of me it will never sag
And on the ground it will never die.
We are a mighty nation
As all the world does most certainly know,
Proudly my family was part of its creation
As we helped her majestically grow.
Yes, I am others are judged by color and by a belief
And by the accent that once was,
Yes, I am mocked and ridiculed and brought grief
But, America I still love.
