I Am Who I Am Poem by Darren Grindley

I Am Who I Am

Rating: 5.0

I was 14 years old and still only a child,
my innocence taken, my purity defiled.
How can a "friend" prey on my vulnerability?
Even til this day I take liability.
He was older than me by around 4 years,
not that it matters, I still shed all those tears.
what did I do wrong? What did I say?
And why on this earth have I ended up gay?
My past is my past and It doesnt hold me back,
It took a long time but I'm now on the right track.
It messed with my head, confused me for plenty a year
But I'm no longer closeted or living in fear.
I even married a woman to try and be straight,
10 years together - it's never too late.
Hiding your feelings will just make you low,
so take the bull by the horns and forward you go!
I have no regrets just a psychological scar,
life is not perfect BUT you are who you are

compelling inquisitivity questioning what were the causes of his homosexuality doesn't seemed that thrilled by it either, but has to accept himself the way he is implications of a being taken advantage of at fourteen and this overdetermining him
