I Believe In Now Poem by moon batchelder

I Believe In Now

i believe in now
'tis only this i can defend
and prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt.
the past is gone,
the future but a promise,
a pretending,
that any given 'now' yet lives without.

while yesterday lies buried
in the grave of memory,
distorted by nostalgia on recall.
tomorrow's but a theory
not supported by the facts,
and having no reality at all.

so only now is real
and still i only half believe
in anything i think or feel or see.
for perception
views the evidence
then draws it's own conclusions.
and barters truth
for continuity.
