I Can'T Spell Poem by Sugar Bear

I Can'T Spell

Rating: 5.0

I try to use the right words
I try to say the right things
I try to make myself heard
From my abilities
But something came down
That scared me out of my shell
And it turned out
That I can’t spell
I mean I try to sound it out
And the correct word comes out my mouth
But isn’t the word I wrote down
But how?
Why are words so darn picky?
Every verb has a vowel that’s tricky
It’s like that in every language you learn
Spanish has a strange pronunciation term
Italian, I can say a few lines but can’t write a word
French is too much alike it gets on my nerves
Tsalagi look nothing like what it’s wrote
And the thought of reading Chinese makes me choke
All these different languages and different spellings
And none seem to be helping
But don’t make fun of me that’s not cool
I do pay attention when I’m in school
I just slip now and then when it comes to words
And being corrected sometimes only makes it worse
But it helps to learn the words if they say it “NICELY”
Or else it’s offensive and makes me feisty
Maybe it’s me, maybe I speak a different language
Called Skillet where misspells are a different fragrance
Then why do I get mad when some people misspell some things?
When they’re just like me, and
“Can’t spell for nothing.” :)

Spelling? This is something that strikes a chord in me, I have two daughters quiet young and both can retain very well how a word is spelt.Me however, well I don't always see the logic in our language and therefore I question why a word is spelt in a perticular way.the English language is not English at all but a combination of different languages that we call English, Ummmmm! I find that if a word does not seem to be logical and it falls outside the rules that help us to spell a certain way, then I come unstuck, So I try to see a word as a picture, I am very visual like that, but others spell phonetically, some people buy story books as they find that they learn audioly whilst following the words in a book. I don't think that there is such a thing as a bad speller, but I do think that we all process information differently, What do you think about this? Anyway a great topic and a great work from you, Love Duncan
