I Carved My Name, Hu Poem by Mohammad Younus

I Carved My Name, Hu

I Carved My Name, Hu

I carved my name, Hu,
into the bark of the tree of my life,
etched by the side of Time's rushing stream,
seeking solace, hoping for forgiveness
for daring to approach the forbidden tree—
my clumsy yearning to know.

But I must confess:
this sacred tree is rooted
in the depths of my own heart,
its branches stretching through
the fibers of my soul.
How my spirit trembles
at the revelation of this truth.

In every breath, I shall proclaim:
I will not tread the same path as Adam,
who, in his haste, approached the tree
before the weight of Divine wisdom
graced his soul.
In his impatience, he reached for its fruit,
not yet understanding the magnitude
of the command that shaped his being.
He could not yet know
the supreme consciousness,
the wisdom held in the unfolding of time.

For I, too, walk a path of awakening—
no rest as long as I am treading water,
no respite in the depths of the spiritual journey.
If I stop, I risk drowning in the ignorance
that once consumed me.
Only through perseverance can I reach
the shore of enlightenment.

So I carve my name—
not just in the tree's bark,
but in the infinite, unfolding pattern
of my own soul's ascent.
I will not repeat the errors of the past;
I shall wait for the light to show me
the wisdom that blooms in its own time.

In the silence, I will listen—
to the Divine Whispers,
the stillness that cradles my soul.
The supreme consciousness is here,
within, around, and beyond me.

And so, I walk—
with patience, with reverence,
waiting for the tree to bear fruit
in its own divine season.
Until then, I remain in the stream—
carving my name, Hu—
waiting for the wisdom to arrive.
