I Followed Her Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

I Followed Her

I followed her

Today I copied her…

If she felt a danger
By police and agents
The local KGBs, CIAs
She filled bags with my books
Pressed in my papers
And the notes
-whatever was written
-for friends
-and others
-or research

Secretly she went out…
-with her books
-package
-notes

To get to the canal
-ran water
-was muddy

She looked left
-then to right
-to the doors
-sides
-behind

Till made sure
-nobody
-no one sees
-no spy

Opened bag
-threw in
-what she had

This is how we have lived
-under the governments
-their leading criminals

Brutal they are and
-they enter every house
-suspected to fight, rise
-practice other rites

Now I live in a room
-large enough to fit in
-single, one
-only one

And my books
-and papers
-and the tools
-take place of a bed
-and sofa or the chair

Therefore I filled a bag
-kissed my notes
-went to chute
-did the same

Criminal…
