I Gave Trust, You Gave Me Lies Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

I Gave Trust, You Gave Me Lies

I placed my trust in your hands,
fragile as glass, clear as water,
offered without question,
without doubt.

You held it for a moment,
long enough for hope to bloom,
then let it slip,
shattered without hesitation.

Your words were stones in my pockets,
pulling me under,
while you stood on the shore,
watching me drown.

I gave you trust,
you gave me lies,
and now only silence remains.
