I Grow An Acorn For You? Poem by Mark Heathcote

I Grow An Acorn For You?

Because your heart is oak
I grow an acorn for you?
Most-venerated of trees
Dancing in dew-lit emerald saris
I pledge my life without grantees.

By the vow of which I sing
It'll be of our wedding ring
Nesting owl, dove or magpie
Crowning over land and sky,
Sailing all the oceans, I testify.

Because your heart is oak
I grow an acorn for you?
Whose roots proceed to flower?
And year on year, hour by hour
I mark our time shared - together.
