I Have Poem by Francis Duggan

I Have

I have been told by some my rhymes are not good enough
For the twenty first century a bit slip shod and rough
Perhaps their way of saying i should give rhyming away
Though to their advice any heed i never does pay
It is something i enjoy doing i write rhymes every day
Just one of many with words who does like to play
The rhymes do come to me i just write them down
But never for money or hope of literary renown
As a younger man i hoped i might become a poet
But i never became one of literary note
I used to love reading rhymes as a young boy
And writing them today i thoroughly enjoy
And despite what some of my rhyming efforts have to say
I hope to be rhyming on my life's last day.
