I Hate The World I Live In Poem by Francis Duggan

I Hate The World I Live In

Rating: 5.0

I hate the World I live in though live in it I must
Where the value of a poor person is seen as equal to a piece of dust
I feel detached from most people their attitude to life I hate
To money only money they do seem to relate.

I hate the World I live in though the World itself is okay
More of Nature's wild creatures face extinction every day
Their struggle for survival as we well know is due to human greed
The destruction of their habitat to their extinction lead.

I hate the World I live in though that doesn't seem a proper thing to say
More wars and rumours of wars we hear of every day
My neighbours to me strangers they too see me that way
And I have not grown wiser though I've grown older and gray.

I hate all big Bureaucracies for it would seem to me
That they in part responsible for World poverty
Big Company Directors earning billions doesn't life seem so unfair
Whilst millions are dying of hunger in the bigger World out there.

I hate the World I live in about that why should I lie
But I will live till the reaper claims me for I have no wish to die
The Government elected by the people does not represent me
Since their policies of economic rationalization leave many in poverty
