I Have Seen Love In A Stray Dog's Eyes Poem by DEEPAK KUMAR PATTANAYAK

I Have Seen Love In A Stray Dog's Eyes

I have seen love in a stray dog’s eyes

May be stray he is;
But not stray is his love,
As I have seen love,
In his pleading eyes,
Passing through a passage,
His presence caught my eyes,
A trembling paw,
And a drooping ear,
A mournful look,
And a plaintive sniff
At every one, passing near by
More he wags his tail,
And less I hear his growl,
All such cool activities
Fuel my curiosity to him close by,
A loaf of bread I carry,
May be he is hungry,
Lo! When I offer,
He looks at me pleadingly,
And I look at him searchingly,
He wags his tail and no talk,
Silence follows for an hour,
For I fear his stare,
What to do and what not to do,
Finally caress him I dare,
And see lots of love in his eyes,
That he wants with me to share,
The world is cold,
And he is starved
Of not food but love for which he stares………..
